Love Letter 8 – Memories
Love Letter 8 – Memories
Louis Armstrong’s rich and throaty voice colours the room on this dark sacred (blue moon) night.
I hear babies cry, I watch them grow. They’ll learn much more, than I’ll never know.
I eagerly return to the wonderful world of 1960 in the delicate pages of Mom’s Love Letter 8:
Apt #102 2331 Blake St
Berkeley, California
Sept 13/60 4 A.M.
Happy Dreams My Dear!
Here it is 4 A.M. and all is fairly quiet and my poor dear sleeping alone again to-nite.
This will have to stop honey. I’ll see what I can do after the 30th of April – of course who knows, maybe I’ll be working nite duty pc we’re married, ha (I can just see your face when you read that line).
Oh honey, your letter was just what I needed – I love you more than anything and will tell you constantly.
As I said in my last letter to you I spent a truly lonely, lonely week-end w/ the kids gone – sure miss them.
If I were at home at least can always dash over to some of my relatives, but time is going by anyhow dear.
Maybe we’ll survive after all.
But can you imagine what it will be like when we’re together again – guess I better eat my Wheaties and vitamins so I won’t bruise too badly.
Oh, but Bryan we have so many, many memories that are so glorious.
– leave any keys in the motel doors lately?
– sign Mr & Mrs B.K. Johnston by mistake?
In some of your spare time in the ‘Peg honey look over the places where we can eat already – so we won’t have to drive too far down Portage.
I se
e the corners of Mom’s full lips turn upward and her hazel-coloured irises dilate while reminiscing the glorious memories … and I think to myself What a Wonderful World – oh ya.

Its been awhile since I’ve read your letters. WOW, Things are getting interesting…
Wow is right!! Interesting indeed
