Love Letter 57 – No Ring

Love Letter 57 – No Ring

Grandfather moon beams across the western sky as Grandmother sun rises from the eastern expanse – a shared stratosphere, just as I share my sphere with Prince’s countless compositions and Mom’s wondering words within the continuing pages of Love Letter 57, December, 1960:

Stayed in to-nite and after the invitations cleaned the house (vacuumed & washed floors) for Mom tomorrow as it is her day off & she can do some shopping.
Mom was at a church banquet to-nite and some of the women decided to give us a couple more pieces of our crystal (how wonderful) – am sure you’ll really like it too, dear I really love it.
Uncle Gus is giving us money to buy our kitchen (everyday) dishes for our apartment – so he says. If of course anyone decides to give us some we can use the money for something else.
Any sun burst 8-day wind clocks. $25 – $30.
Everyone is fairly good at home, but Gran feeling pretty low at times. We got a letter from her brother Neal that Gran’s sister Elsie is dying of cancer in the Vancouver General Hospital – so I’ve tried to stay at home w/ her as much as I can.
Gran is taking it quite good as this sister of hers is quite close – she was up here about 4 years ago, but you know Gran never says too much.
She’s pleased when I sit around & gab w/ her so the time goes by fairly quickly for her.
Besides everything else – some lady of Flin Flon phoned to-nite and asked me if I could help her w/ some campaigning for the Trappers Festival (her daughter running for Fur Queen) – I refused, dear.
Bud is leaving tomorrow for an all star hockey game in Regina – probably be gone 3 – 5 days.
Nothing too exciting.
Well my dear I hope you are in a more cheery mood than I – and that our thesis is progressing rapidly.
Hello to all and hope everyone is fine.
I love you so very much, dear.
’Nite now.
Just so you won’t forget me dear here’s a pic which was taken 2 years ago.
My hair isn’t long but it’s growing now. You can discard this pic after the 17th of Feb – I hate pics of myself.
I’m thinking of you, dear.
My left hand so looks bare tho’ – no ring.
Bye
Yours Always

P.S. – a note from Mom (no idea what it says)
Chopp – Chopp!!

I’m sure if Dad had it his way, Mom  he would have put a ring on it a lifetime ago . . . for the time being you’ll just have to live with that naked no ring feeling a wee bit longer?!

If I gave you diamonds and pearls . . .
