Love Letter 58 – Gab Session

Love Letter 58 – Gab Session

Mother earth appears to be spinning through seasons at an unusually quickened pace – taking precious time with it – like a circular coloured spinning top on its vertical axis. For this moment though, I leave physics and my racing thoughts behind and ease into the piano works of Franz Liszt and the ringing in of the New Year in Flin Flon, 1961 with Mom’s Love Letter 58:

Flin Flon – 11:25 p.m.

Hi My Honey!
Well here I am – hard at work again — gee I hate work!
Surprisingly enough the trip wasn’t too bad – never made it home until nearly 1:30 A.M. & never stopped talking until after 3 A.M. (had to catch up on a lot of news).
Slept a fair amount of the way, but the bus was really packed – everyone dashing back to work, Tues.
We never had any bus trouble, but we did pull out 3 cars that went off into the ditch – none too serious – but took enough time.
Rather cool drive nearly 30 below.
Knew over 1/2 the people on the bus so had a good gab session while I was awake.
Sure miss you honey every time I leave you, but just think next time we’ll be together – still can’t believe it! — great!
Now for work – the telegram never arrived until 3 o’clock so guess Addie was a bit perturbed, but I couldn’t have cared less.
— not too happy, but her usual bitchy self — great compatible person, aren’t I!?
It’s all over & done w/ so will be working tomorrow.
Am real tired and have a quick bath, then bed.
This letter will be rather short, dear, but write a better more lengthy one tomorrow nite when I’m not so tired.
Now for the gem — got the invitations & announcements & this morning before work decided to read them over — they misspelled your name — they had me marrying a Bryan Johnson — hardly mad — damn stupid people – so off I roared & complained bitterly & they said they sent a rush letter saying we needed them in a week! — So begins the trials of preparing for a wedding.
The material for my gown was here so all is well w/ that so far – must see Mrs McMartin (dressmaker) tomorrow.
Everyone is thrilled about our successful apartment hunting & furniture buying adventure so they’ll listen to me rant & rave on.
After I came home to-nite Mom & I dashed off to the show — Franz Liszt — composer & pianist — enjoyed the music, but cried at the end of the show – truly sad love story at the end.
Everyone is fine at home – guess Gran missed me a fair amount – was looking for me most of Monday.
Have many plans for tomorrow & must get busy – evidently a couple showers at the end of this month so Mom says – great fun.
All my love to you, darling!
I miss you so – I love you, dear, but just remember only 6 more weeks — 46 sleeps alone only!!
Please work on that damn thesis — I mean work hard!! — get it done!!
Poor Curly had an accident a couple days ago — nearly $150 – $210 damage –
Well dear I must close & I’ll write a better letter tomorrow – a bath — then bed.
All my Love — Bette
Yours always,
Bette XXXX

P.S. Best see about the loan & your license plates (can’t afford a fine in the New Year).
I’ll be with you soon dear!
Chopp – Chopp!!

What a magical time to be together Mom – Christmas – and to think, only 46 more sleeps before you share a lifetime of gab sessions . . . provided there’s no more spelling mistakes and presuming that ‘damn thesis’ is over and done with?!
