Love Letter 58 – Crinoline
Love Letter 58 – Crinoline
It’s beginning to look a lot like howling Hallowe’en as tumbling toddlers trip through plumped up pumpkin patches and neighbouring yards are transformed into ghostly, gruesome graveyards. Michael Jackson’s vocals spill into the blood orange stained room as the sun sets simultaneously with me revisiting New Year, 1961 within Mom’s Love Letter 58:

A few snaps of my Love!
Hello to all!
I love you so very much – thought of you constantly on the bus – had to laugh to think about New Year’s Eve – hardly stoney.
Talked w/ Denise Whalley to-day, am dropping over for coffee next week — don’t forget to write to Doug —
Listen dear – please phone Mallabar’s & ask about costs (rates) for renting crinolines or hoop – just inquiring (for me).
I love you so very much!!
’Nite dear

The couple of ‘snaps’ of Mom’s love are picture perfect with Dad’s 6’4” frame nearly reaching heights of the tinsel laden balsam fir – one photo shows him decked out in a black suit holding a wooden stick character while the other has him donning a polka dot nightshirt . . . a Christmas gift perhaps?!
I envision you giggling in the aisle of the dimly lit Greyhound bus, Mom as you conjure up recent images of New Year’s Eve with your love . . . and to think that the next order of Dad’s business is to inquire about a perfectly poufy underskirt of crinoline for what’s sure to be a most enchanting future February day!
Now is the time
For you and I to cuddle close together, yeah
