Love Letter 16 – Wee Note
Love Letter 16 – Wee Note
I collapse into the mustard recliner and swivel to face the freshly watered tulips who, rather than return my cheerful gaze, continue to droop loosely downward. No worries as Jill Scott whispers in one ear while Mom dishes into my other ear with the continuation of Love Letter 16, Sep 1960:
How is work going, dear.
Hope you are still enjoying it.
Sorry this is such a wee note, but this decision has been bothering me for several weeks so thought I’d best get it off my mind right now –
Have lots to do in the next few days – packing and all.
I’m so content to just sit & watch T.V. read and write to you – and Ernie & Joan just seem to make things worse – they continually bitch about nothing to do, no one new to meet & yet make no attempt to get out and do something –
Sorry honey – that you had to get a lousy letter like this from me – it doesn’t sound like me when I read it over, but miss you – so much!
Well dear will close now –
Please remember I love you so much –
Can hardly wait to be w/ you – soon April 29th should be around.
Don’t get too frustrated lover am sure ‘our visitor’ won’t sneak up on us for the 29th.
I love you, dear!!
Yours always,
Bette

Chopp–Chopp!!
Mom need not apologize for her ‘lousy’ wee note – after all, it’s not every day we feel as whimsical as a daisy . . . some days we’re simply dispirited as a droopy tulip or as snappy as a Venus flytrap.
Keep on laughin’, keep on livin’, keep on lovin’
Yeah
