Love Letter 17 – Pure Crap

Love Letter 17 – Pure Crap

The mid-morning north wind creates havoc around the well worn track lanes; broken bits of nature fling up against joggers’ ankles, loose strands of hair whip across athletic faces and soap bubbles whirl out of desperate toddlers’ reach. The harmless and amusing inconveniences are fleeting once I’m home with Skip Marley and H.E.R., steeped green tea and Mom’s wondrous Love Letter 17:

Hi My Honey!
How I love you, Bryan!
Have been up for all of 2 1/2 hours – hardly a sleepy head.
Ernie is shopping in downtown Oakland & Joan & I just finished supper (liver, spinach & baked potato – sound familiar).
Hope everything is fine w/ you, dear – and that my damn confusing letters are not getting you too confused.
Am so anxious to be with you, honey – who ever thought that 1 month could be so long – it was 4 weeks from this evening that I flew back from Seattle. BUT, in one month from to-day will be getting ready to return – oh Bryan can hardly wait to be w/ you – I love you so much, honey.
Have said nothing to anyone until everything more definite but my plans are to put in my resignation in 2 weeks (you only have to give a 2 week notice to resign).
Will give up this apartment at the end of this month and will live w/ Mary Jo and Bobby for about 2-3 days (they sure are great kids).
Tentatively work up until (nite shift) Nov 1 – Tues nite and have that Wed & Thurs off
(that Thurs Nov 3 is our pay day).
So would like to fly back on that Thurs to be w/ you, honey on that week-end – how does that sound –
Hope this doesn’t interfere w/ any plans you might have, dear.
And stay in Wpg for the following week-end then home ’til Dec.
How is your work going – real busy no doubt.
Have you done anything on your final paper yet, dear?
Say hello to everyone for me please – hope all is up to par.
Nothing too much happened in the past 2 days –
Watched T.V. last nite – Kennedy & Nixon on a panel type programme – very interesting.
Had a fairly busy time at work surprisingly enough – had an emergency operation if you can feature that – Zowie was I excited (different excitement than w/ you my dear?!).
And I cleaned up 2 real messes – you can’t imagine what I was involved in – I had to laugh tho’ – the other 2 nurses bugged me until we were weak from laughter.
one mess – “pure crap” – my don’t I talk like a young lady, honey, but you should have seen me – this guy was in so much traction – broken legs, I was more tangled in ropes and pulleys than anything else. So after that ordeal I scrubbed w/ soap & water for about 10 mins.
second mess – this fellow had a gastric suction-tube thru’ his nose to his stomach and after much adieu – the damn tube was plugged so industriously I set forth to irrigate it – well, in the midst of everything the tubing separated and here I was – nearly sprayed the poor fellow w/ a syringe of water and I had gastric contents all over me –
I felt like a real mess when I came off – but I did have to laugh – and everyone had to tease me – you’d think I’d never done anything before.
Since I can’t sit & tell you all the juicy news of my dedicated work best I write it down.

Ha, I embrace Mom’s eager anticipation at the realization of only 1 (LONG) month separating her and her lover from taking pleasure in that glorious ‘different excitement’ – opposed to the ‘excitement’ faced during a rather messy night shift . . . pure crap.

I love the way we move,
The way we move!
