Love Letter 14 – Dreamland
Love Letter 14 – Dreamland
Larger than life snowmen begin to meet their fate with the intermittent rainfall and climbing temperature as sizeable snowballs have flattened into gray and white circles spotting the inner field of the bordering high school track resembling a litter of sleeping Dalmatians.
I exchange the dreary day’s cool, damp air for the early autumn of 1960 within the warmth of Mom’s Love Letter 14:

Hi Lover!
Well hi dear here I am again to say hello and chat w/ you for a few mins.
I love you very much and am anxious to be home with you, honey – please don’t forget.
Surprisingly enough I have been kept busy these past 2 nites – guess I should never have said anything in my last letter to you about being slack at work.
Last nite had a very sick doctor for a patient – undiagnosed fever – and spent a great deal of time w/ him, changing his clothes & bed clothes frequently and pumping him full of pills, etc.
Evidently he is feeling much better to-nite, thank goodness.
And to-nite:
Totally different crew of patients – none of which want to sleep.
Actually had an emergency to-nite – which is real different – kidney stone – very nice fellow, but rather rowdy – seems he doesn’t think he should be having quite as much pain as he does – and of course continuous IV’s.
I have repeated about 5 sleeping pills for people that are wide awake and then Mr. Williams – who I have spoiled silly – just finished rubbing his back and talking to him.
Other than that am caught up now – have a pretty sick 61 yr old lady who is rather apprehensive, poor soul – found out to-day that she is full of Ca. – and had surgery twice on her thyroid in these past 3 days – so have been consoling her and just had a cigarette while conversing w/ her – she’s off to dreamland now.
Where my little man is no doubt – 3 A.M. in his own dreamland – sweet dreams sweetheart!
I had only 6 hours sleep to-day but since I’m rather busy am surviving quite well.
So many, many times dear think how very wonderful it would be just to sit and watch T.V., chat & “what-have-you” – miss you very much honey.
It will be so very, very great to have you near me, dear – not much longer now – October is nearly at hand.
Was over at Marion & Kirk’s for supper – as well as Ruth and Carole – had a great time – Kirk’s a real busy body around the kitchen.
Saw the pics.
The coloured ones are real great – ordered about 5 of them so you’ll see them soon dear – probably not for several weeks tho’ – colours are really great tho’.
The big pictures are pretty too, tho, but after seeing the coloured ones they seem like nothing.
Marion sure made a pretty bride.
Carole has only 5 more weeks to go before Junior arrives – she sure looks good, gained very little weight so as yet doesn’t look too big & bulky.
Wayne has been gone for 2 weeks, then will be out for nearly 3 more weeks, poor Carole nearly fit to be tied.
She baked bread to-day for the first time – tasted real good – little wee loaves.
Marion used the salad bowls we gave her – gee they sure are a beautiful set!! – hand carved.
How is everyone in Winnipeg?
How is the job, dear?
Anymore news on selling your home – Say hello to everyone for me please –
Everyone is fine at #102 – still ranting and raving about leaving – they said they’ll want to leave if I do –
I played Christmas carols when I got up to-day – did they ever sound nice – can hardly wait to sit in front of your Christmas tree soon.
D
reamland, slumber – that escape to the magical land of milk + honey and ‘what have you’ . . . a world of infinite possibilities! A dreamland where Mom and Dad are as one – sweethearts together, forever . . . and where snowmen are “jolly, happy souls.”

Color pictures! Now that’s the sign of the times. HA!
Ha, it sure is B!
