Love Letter 73 – A Favour to Ask
Love Letter 73 – A Favour to Ask
Mother Earth spreads her serendipitous sunshine upon me in droves this weekend and I’m bursting – captivating conversations, delectable dishes, fragrant flowers, walking on water . . . hallelujah to the highest! Mom’s (and Grandma’s) day is turning out to be everyday these days.
Late afternoon abundance abounds with the sentimental sounds of U2 and the warmhearted words of Mom’s loving Love Letter 73, February, 1961:
Tuesday 11:35
Hi Honey!
Here I have 2 letters of yours beside me & I complained about not hearing from you, Saturday – sorry. (Real lonely I guess, dear).
So glad to hear our thesis is nearly completed now – Congratulations!
Thanx for ordering the napkins dear – don’t forget to bring them up, eh?
It seems February is the month for bonspiels – guess we never included that in our planning, eh. That’s all I hear here – you see that is the big weekend of our local bonspiel – maybe you want to curl, eh?
I have a favour to ask of you, Sunday nite while in bed dear – can I listen to the radio between 10 – 10:30 p.m. as there is a final episode to be continued radio programme I have been listening to regularly – okay?
About the clock, dear just order it as we really want it & have lots of time to get settled in our apartment.
We have so much to carry back & forth w/ us anyhow.
Also Walter’s T.V. tables are being sent to our new home in a week or two.
Gee as I sit & write to you my love it has donned on me that only a couple more letters to write – hurray – not that I don’t mind writing honey, just that I could express myself so much better if you were beside me (only 10 days now lover).
We got our beautiful lace tablecloth from Pat & Frank.
Some money from relatives to-day – have $30 now (cash).
Sorry to hear the frat boys couldn’t make it – it would have been grand.
Will definitely reconfirm our hotel reservations tomorrow, can’t figure your dates out to-day. Who needs the 1 couple for Fri & Sat, 2 doubles for Sat (a couple driving up w/ Carol & John, Diane & John, Meryl & Gary??) You.
Well dear our last weekend single – best live it up.
Nothing much F.F. way unless you were here, dear!
Small gathering at Eth & Bud’s this Friday after bowling.
Carole & Don Wright might be down on the 24th of this month for an engineering do – Royal Alex? banquet & dance (Profess. Engineers) – said they’d be over for supper – Mon 27th if they get down –
Will tell you all when their plans are final.
Sure quiet around here w/ Gran down at Aunt Bertha’s. It’s better for her as someone is w/ her all the time.
Not real bad now, but legs very sore and spends most of her day in bed – I pray she will be better before our wedding.
Well dearest – so far 3 gifts from people without invitation – 2 more patients of mine & also the Joneses are sending a gift from Bermuda – it’s on the way – got a real cute note from them asking if we could make it down there for our honeymoon – they have an extra bedroom for us.
Well honey – I’ll close now.
I need you so – I love you so very much – only 10 days.
I love you!
Hello to all!
Yours always,
Bette XXXX
Chopp – Chopp
Am fitting my gown on tomorrow w/ all accessories (spelling?) before the 18th.
‘nite dear!
Hmm, so you have a favour to ask of Dad – seriously, Mom?!
Second evening as husband and wife and you think you’re going to be listening to a radio program between 10 – 10:30 pm – I suppose it could act as a distant serenade while truly ‘expressing’ yourselves . . .
Ain’t love the sweetest thing
