Love Letter 65 – 35 Below

Love Letter 65 – 35 Below

Snow days are the best days – bundled babes, tumbling toddlers, frolicking friends and pouncing pups filling snow blanketed schoolyards, streets and sidewalks in my sleepy city by the snow silenced sea. I forgo the trek outside in favour of a heated, cozy corner on the sheepskin covered wishbone chair, sipping a cup of mildly spiked Earl Grey tea, listening to soft soothing instrumental jazz while enjoying a wondrous return to Flin Flon’s 1961 winter scenes within Mom’s Love Letter 65:

– 9 pm
Here I am again dear to finish your letter so I’ll get it mailed tomorrow.
Perfect atmosphere – real quiet.
Am down at Carole & Don’s baby sitting.
Got up and went to 9:45 church service (communion) – prayed for us dear as I do daily and also put in a few good words for our thesis – how goes it, honey?
Then over to Ethel’s for breakfast. Jimmy cooked it this morning.
Then off to McMartins to try on my gown – oh darling, really getting excited now – I certainly hope you’ll like it.
No funny play or love making in it dear as w/ the long fitted sleeves can barely move my arms, but wait till after the service, ceremony & reception — all I can say is I love you more than anything in the world, Bryan Keith.
Came down to Carole & Don’s for supper and played w/ the kids – gee they are sweet – never a dull moment – can hardly wait for our family.
Got them ready for their baths then off to bed.
Don has been curling all weekend in a bonspiel and lost going into the semi-finals — poor Don (one up coming home & he missed his last shot — draw shot).
Oh honey, I’m sure I’ll be a poor loser for you.
The finals are to-nite w/ a little smash after so I said I’d baby sit.
Kids are all asleep.
So here I am. Washed & set my hair, writing to you — then reading a pocketbook w/ a cig & beer in hand (how’s that for baby sitting — wish you were w/ me).
A cool weekend I must say. Nearly 35 below down in Willowvale early this a.m. — I’ll keep you warm my Love.

It may be 35 below where you are now Mom but the thought of sharing future days (and nights) with Bryan Keith must surely warm you up all over?! I’m imagining mouthwatering breakfasts together, spirited weekend bonspiels and late night bubble baths . . . mixed in with a whole lotta ‘funny play.’
