Love Letter 44 – Romantic, eh
Love Letter 44 – Romantic, eh
I motor past detoured signs and whizz my forest green Mini sport effortlessly ass backwards between two rectangular cement stops within the ‘diagonal parking only’ gravel lot adjacent to Blackie Spit – my head is clearly lost in the clouds on this cloudless day. I reach for my seagrass tote overflowing with treats and envelopes, don my fave sunhat and make my way along the wooden-panelled boardwalk to a vacant, distressed bench. I promptly woof down my mouthwatering fruit salad and nummy oatmeal apricot cookies while absorbing the shoreside horizon. Alessia Cara’s vocals ride the Crescent Beach tide as I flow into the fabulous world within Mom’s Love Letter 44:
Too far from you, dear!
Nov. 19/60
Hi Honey!
What a wonderful letter as usual, dear.
Great to hear all is well w/ you and that you’re working on your thesis – great great!!
Before I go any farther must get this damn Blue Bomber game off my mind – wasn’t that the worst. How was it on T.V. – poor Ploen.
It is now 10 P.M. Sat nite so we wrote our letters at the same time – romantic, eh.
We sleep at the same time too dear, but a little far apart for our liking??!
Come on you poor loser why not tell me your poor bowling scores.
Guess we’ll have to take up bowling after we’re married.
I played 3 games of 10 pin last nite, but had lousy scores 91, 117, 120 – poor alleys I guess. HA!
Am reading your letter and writing down any answers you might want to know.
Only 2 months and 29 more days, lover – I love you so very much, dear.
Received the cheque dear – thank you muchly.
Here it is Sat. nite and I am babysitting – what a funny feeling to go into the bedroom to check the family (ours one day) and the 3 darlings are sleeping.
Mind you haven’t done this for ages and it seems I can hear one of them move every so often, but when I look they’re fine – sure cuties, you’ll love them.
Read over the clipping – sounds good – who knows what will happen in a few years – we’ll see.
So you’re thinking of a reply to the toast, eh – I have a good idea “the bed” will be mentioned tho’ – I won’t be surprised, but maybe others will.
– great introduct’n of Alf’s.
Seems so near at hand when we talk of our wedding.
Can hardly believe it will only be another 5 weeks ’till we’re together again – Zowie (have to use my favourite expression frequently).
Man you’ve really worked eh dear, bet you’re really bitchy in the mornings now and ‘specially when you have to work Saturdays – great fun.
I HATE WORK – that’s my love now – great music – real cowboy type, know you’d enjoy it highly – mind you, would love to have you babysit w/ me, dear – drop over sometime.
– kids so good never know they are there (have written 6 letters so far).
My eyes feel like they are ready to fall out so best I quit right now.
Will finish your letter, dear then a coffee break & a cig.
Closer proximity
than ever before and yet still so far away – sharing time zones but not cities, sleeping together but apart.
Two months and twenty nine days will change all that Mom! You’ll be throwing ‘lousy’ scores down shared bowling lanes, cheering home teams together from cozy couches and nuzzling beneath scintillating starlit skies – so romantic, eh Mom?!
Let’s make forever in this momentTell me you love me again, oh again
