Love Letter 42 – Children
Love Letter 42 – Children
A lone pigeon navigates a solid landing under my bistro table and without missing a beat commences into a head-thrusting dance around my sandaled feet in hopes of some shared double chocolate cookie crumbs. Steady streams of South Granville street and sidewalk traffic interrupt neighbouring patron’s discussions of rising rents and unrealistic floor plans as I grab my frothy London fog togo mug, writing journal and make my way home along root-cracked Kitsilano sidewalks. As I descend the steps into suite #1969 I’m graciously greeted with welcoming kitty headbutts and pitch perfect purring alongside the uptempo sounds of Santana – a sweet-toned combo while reentering the continuing pages of Mom’s Love Letter 42, Flin Flon, 1960:

Was quite tired after work to-day, rather busy and tiring.
Really depressing in a way because I worked w/ a child – how very sad! It bothers me quite a bit – the sweetheart was only 7 years old, but couldn’t talk or anything – every time he looked at me w/ those big brown, apprehensive (so afraid) eyes.
I only hope he understood that I didn’t want to hurt him & we had to put some stitches on his head. Thank the Good Lord he trusted me so and I had everything ready for the doctor and not a tear was shed.
Poor sweetie – can you believe dear, there are 4 children in his family and his parents – they don’t care for them – no extra love or anything (which they need so badly).
That’s what really hurts – why is it that people that don’t give a damn have a family readily & people who want children can’t – maybe one day I’ll see it –
Maybe I’m just in a miserable mood – but honey, can still see that little fellow – could have taken him home w/ me. Oh honey, you know how I love children, I pray every day ours will be healthy.
I love you so very, very much Bryan.
Best close now, before I get real bitchy –
Loads of Love.
Yours always,
Bette xxxxxx
Chopp – Chopp!!
PS Was talking to Glen – owner of the only good hotel here & just mentioned about a room for the 18th maybe 19th of Feb for us – bonspiel time maybe hotel will be full (can always cancel).
Happy homes, loving parents, affectionate pets, generous relationships, caring communities – it takes a village, wouldn’t you agree Mom?! With any luck and some good timing you and Dad will get off to a good start on your brood of children – in the ‘only good hotel’ in town.
Let the children have their way
Let the children play
