Love Letter 37 – Gowns

Love Letter 37 – Gowns

I slowly surrender present thoughts of past hurts with repeated healing mantras as Grandmother Moon – the queen of emotions – passes through her lunar cycle and into her pre-dawn full moon. The freshly lit vanilla scented candle conjures up childhood memories of hand whisked egg nog as I slowly allow myself to be transported even further into a simpler place and time with the magical melody of Van Morrison and the winsome words of Mom’s Love Letter 37, November 9, 1960:

Going out for dinner tomorrow to a school teacher’s and his wife – they have a new baby for me to see.
Carole Wright phoned and we had a rather lengthy talk.
It’s really awful dear, Don has been off work since last Thurs and they think he has arthritis in all of his joints and bones.
For nearly 3 days Carole said she had to lift his legs to get him in and out of bed – really feeling lousy and uncomfortable – feeling some better to-day, but upset stomach, etc so now they’re doing tests on him for a possible ulcer – may drop down & visit them this evening for a short while, will see after he gets back from the doctors.
They ask me all about the reports and blood work that he has done and it’s rather hard for me to explain everything, which is up to the doctor.
I’ll tell you all next time, honey.
How is everyone in Winnipeg?
Please say hello to everyone for me please.
I love you, dear so very much.
Only 3 months and 9 days.
Guess you saw a fair amount of the elections on T.V., eh – see your man got in – Kennedy fan.
Gee honey I miss you – even tho’ I’m home it seems I want you even more, maybe because I’d like you to meet some of these northerners and there’s so many little things I could talk over.
Just crazy things that pass thru my mind now & then.
Maybe just frustrated – need you, darling.
Even looking around at gowns – maybe I’m too damn fussy, but have a good idea what I want and everything here is nothing like I want – it’s different when you have one store to chose from – not like a city – I have to keep remembering where I am (F.F.).
Well honey will close now before I really start bitching.
Remember I love you so very much!
Yours always,
Bette xxxx
chopp – chopp!
Hi from all here.

Shopping for wedding gowns is quite the undertaking Mom – it’s right up there with deciding on a wedding date and securing a venue. But no need to get out of sorts, as I’m quite confident you’ll find the perfect one of a kind bridal gown . . . even in your one shop town!

Well, it’s a marvelous night for a moondance
