Love Letter 36 – Golden Florentine
Love Letter 36 – Golden Florentine
Depeche Mode‘s Enjoy the Silence streams from an overhead speaker strategically placed within the forested fortress of youthful yews and green canopy umbrellas. The calm is interrupted by the feverish pitch of after school activities – pickups, dropoffs and mad dashes into corner confectioneries.
My newly acquainted furry friend Rocco gives me a welcoming nudge before plopping at my heels just as a busybody backyard beetle hovers menacingly above my keyboard and writing journal.
I see both as a sign to pick up where I left off in Mom’s Love Letter 36:

At home(1 hour later)
Gee it’s great when I have my dinner hour from 1 – 2 pm.
Eat a lunch, then the mail man comes at 1:20 pm – and your letter came to-day.
So have just read it w/ my cigarette burning and cup of hot tea – have I told you lately how much I Love You.
We feel so much the same in many, many ways, dear.
For instance, our wedding date – Feb 18th, it does seem so close and so much to do – it’s so hard to realize that Christmas is in between those arrangements.
We are so far apart, honey, too damn far (distance wise).
Am so glad to hear that you are working on your thesis dear – I hope you get it done real soon – I hate to pester you w/ it, but we will both feel so relieved when it’s off our minds.
Sure is wonderful to have Mrs Kane help us regarding apartment hunting – that is a problem, but dear if you see anything you like that’s available in February – grab it – as long as it has room for a bed, eh?!!
Will work as close to the 18th as I can dear as I can make so many arrangements even now.
And regarding decorating the reception hall, etc the caterers (spelling atrocious) do a great amount.
Have you thought any more of attendants, your best man.
Some friends of mine know Doug Wally that you know.
My (“our”) ring is as beautiful as ever, darling – sparkles still too. It fits real fine as my hands do swell fairly frequently when I have them in hot water – so it is perfect.
I wear it and look at it constantly.
The only time I take it off dear is when I have “to glove” at the clinic (wear rubber gloves) and if I have to get my hands real dirty w/ junk around the clinic – very good about the insurance, honey.
Bryan – an electrolux is on the line of a vacuum cleaner – not like a hoover, but a gadget like that. The distributor was up here demonstrating – great power, picks up 3 metal balls so can imagine the amount of stuff I’d have to remove out of the thing at the end of a cleaning day.
Honey – you should get something for yourself at Christmas – sweater? white shirts? – anything you need?
The china is “Golden Florentine.”
Will send you measurements next time.
So far wedding at 6 pm on the 18th and no supper – reception following from 7 – 9:30 or such.
Love to all.
Will write & tell you of any arrangements as soon as get them done.
Will close now dear, hello to all.
Miss you so very much.
I love you, so much, Bryan
Yours always

Chopp – Chopp!!
Arrangements and more arrangements – will it ever end, Mom?! Of course it will. And once the florals have been displayed, your nuptials have been exchanged, the orchestra plays and the attendees rave, you and Dad will lovingly land in your newlywed nest equipped with ample ‘room for a bed’ and a kitchen for creating culinary delights tastefully displayed on gifted Golden Florentine . . . sounds yummy!
All I ever wanted
All I ever needed
Is here in my arms
