Love Letter 3 – Zowie!

Love Letter 3 – Zowie!

I exchange the silent, smoky outdoors with the indoor comforts of dehumidified and fresh linen infused air. The recently cut sunflowers and I are soothed into 1960 with Diana Krall’s sultry voice – “Let’s Fall in Love” -and Mom’s lovesome Love Letter 3:

Hi Honey!
Hello dear – I love you so very much!
Here it is 9 pm Monday and the 3 of us have spent nearly 2 complete days together  – mind you we’ve nearly gone out of our minds, but physically we’re still okay.
Didn’t arise until 11 A.M. yesterday, then I cooked breakfast – bacon, eggs, toast & coffee (‘member dear you’ll be cooking the Sunday breakfast – pancakes?).
We gabbed for nearly an hour then out to the pool – the weather is truly fabulous, but the pool has really been packed lately.
Ernie went out for the evening for supper, dancing, etc – she has been pretty busy lately – nothing serious, but going out.
I arranged a cold plate for Joan and I, then we watched T.V. and read
– honestly honey have gone thru’ 2 pocket books already – one was a sexy one dear – “Sexual Responsibility of Women” – Zowie!
Some doctor preparing women for marriage – sound familiar – nothing too, too interesting tho’ honey.
Now I’m reading a Somerset Maugham pocket book “Of Human Bondage” – has started off rather sad, but will continue – think of when we’ll be together honey. Boy, sure will have to be careful, eh? Time will go fast – can hardly wait to get off that plane and have your arms around me – I love you –
Everyone is taking wonderful care of me tho’.
Ernie and Joan keep me occupied.
Was talking to Pat (McGregor) on the phone to-nite for nearly 20 mins. Frank, she & Robbie were at Tilden Park  for the day – everyone is fine at their home – evidently the baby is even getting a tan.
Will venture out to their place on one of my days off, they said I could spend the nite there . . . or should we spend a nite together honey!
Nothing too much has happened the past few days.
The wedding (Marion and Kirk’s) went off real fine – the guests all remarked that the whole wedding party looked very nice. Marion made a beautiful bride.
They are only having a 2-day honeymoon, should be back tomorrow as Kirk has to be back for work (Tues) – evidently he is working for an insurance company now.
Will be getting ready for work shortly as Bobby (one of the L.A. nurses) is going to pick me up at 11:05 pm.
Tell you all about my new shift in the next letter.
Ernie just yelled across the room that she too misses you very much.
Honey, I love you so very, very much – can only wait to have you near me again – just think dear April 30th.
Hello to everyone for me –
Bye now.
Yours always,
Love Bette
xxxxxxxx

Between the warmth of Mom’s sun drenched skin by poolside and her heated heart at the thoughts of Dad being ‘near her again’ – not to mention the uninhibited writings of her ‘sexy’ pocketbooks – it’s a wonder she can keep her thoughts on anything but their next night together . . . Zowie!
