Love Letter 3 – Peanuts
Love Letter 3 – Peanuts
The sea air fills my lungs, the encrusted basa fills my stomach and Mom’s caressing words fill my heart as I once again stroll back to Berkeley, 1960 in Love Letter 3:

Sept 6/60 – 7:30 pm!
Received your most welcomed letter to-day and have just completed reading it for the 4th time.
My first bout at nite duty is over. Bobby and Mary Jo picked me up last nite and thank goodness have arranged to have a ride to work every nite for the next 2 weeks – am spoilt, but only you manage to spoil me the way I really like.
Nite duty is real quiet, I actually work for about 2 hours of the 8 hours and the rest of the time is filled w/ letter writing and reading, maybe I should start knitting or something.
Very different working on our ward at nite as there are no phone calls unless an emergency –
Got home at 7:15 and washed dishes, cleaned up a bit then to bed – awake only once at noon for a few minutes then back to sleep until 4 pm – awake to find your letter next to my pillow (Ernie had put it there) – so you see honey you were w/ me real close.
Ernie is at work right now and Joan is out to a show w/ Mary Kaye.
Just finished supper awhile ago – I cooked some veal w/ mushroom sauce, did the dishes and now will finish your letter (over).
Was going to venture over to 2612 as Carol & Wayne and crew have told me to drop over anytime, but just feel like staying at home – guess I wouldn’t make very good company this evening – am real lonely and love to have you w/ me – we could just sit watch T.V. (like we do!) and have a beer and popcorn.
Oh honey I love you so so much –
We’ll be together soon.
Hope your trip back had no set backs.
Soon you’ll be at your work which will make time pass more quickly.
Love you, dear

P.S. Peanuts misses you too and he requested to be sent along w/ my letter –
You’ll get something in every letter – sorry I can’t fit in an envelope.
H
a, I see Mom grinning in delight as her pen hits the page during a solitude evening shift, as she recounts the many ways that Dad manages to spoil her ‘the way she really likes’. Oh, if only she could fit into the envelope alongside Snoopy and the Peanuts gang!

Honey, I guess we should have purchase the Snoopy painting at fisherman’s wharf when in San Fran back in 2017…would have been PERFECT!
Yes, I think about Snoopy often . . . Maybe next visit!
