Love Letter 29 – Diagnosis: Love

Love Letter 29 – Diagnosis: Love

I’m so convinced it’s whimsical Wednesday that I permanently mark off the 30th day from my Inuit art calendar and send a celebratory text to a frenzied friend – both done prematurely, as it turns out, since the lit font of my iPhone indicates I’ve gained an entire 24 hours, after recently losing one (hour) . . . I love when this happens!
I crank the R&B soul sounds of Jacksoul while gliding across the creamy hardwood floors from one room to another and landing strategically on the navy American leather sofa alongside Mom’s undisturbed, perfectly piled handwritten love letters.
I swirl a sip of honey-sweetened Earl Grey tea while contemplating the contents of Mom’s Love Letter 29:

Progress Record

October 16/60 5:30 a.m.

Patient: Me
Sex: Female
Age: 24 years
Diagnosis: Love
Complications: Fiancé (my love) many miles away
Treatment: Fly via jet to him
Prognosis: Excellent when we’re together
Instruction to patient: Just love him!! Chopp – Chopp!!

There you are dear, my case history – think maybe you’re much included in my successful recovery!
Here it is after 5 a.m. and I am now ready to start on some of my desk work – sounds important doesn’t it??
Have had a fairly good nite, but have been rather tired lately @ work – glad I will be off night duty soon.
Oh honey! Only 5 more nights to work and 6 more days until I’m in your arms – Zowee!!!
I love you Bryan!!
It is just gorgeous weather-wise to-nite – still over 70 degrees outside & real warm.
The city is so very bright & sparkling to-nite – fabulous – my last Saturday night – wish we could have spent it together –
San Francisco looks great – will miss her –
Every time I look over @ the city it brings back so many wonderful memories – ours!!
Better get all your work done before I arrive on the scene – won’t leave you alone too much, dear.
Will be able to visit some of my classmates while you are at work – get caught up on the gossip of our class.
Have only a few things left to do around the apartment – then home to you, dear!!
I love you so very much, dear!
Should get the coloured wedding pictures from Marion tomorrow so you’ll see them when I get there.
Nothing too exciting has happened since I wrote you last – what was it – 10 hours ago.
Thought maybe you’d be able to read my printing more easily, but now when I look @ it I’m not too sure –
Anyhow, all I keep saying dear – is – that soon we’ll be together.
Hello to all
Will close now, honey.
See you soon my darling.
Yours always,
Bette – Chopp – Chopp!!

Well Mom, I feel my twenty four hour redo hardly holds a candle to travelling back in time with you and Dad. There’s no question about your Diagnosis: Love – whether you lovebirds are gazing up at the sparkling skies of San Francisco, cruising across Bay Area bridges or simply strolling the beautiful beaches of Berkeley . . . your love is the surefire cure!

Still Believe in Love!
