Love Letter 10 – Saturday
Love Letter 10 – Saturday
Liam Gallagher’s “All You’re Dreaming Of” orchestral chords swirl in my head as the video images splash across the distant iPad. My head whirls as I reach for the second letter tenderly tucked within the handwritten pages of Mom’s Love Letter 10:
Hello Dear!
I love you so very very much!
How wonderful to hear you on the phone 10 1/2 hours ago – as it is now 2 A.M.
It is so strange to try and imagine you’re so far away when you get to talking as we did.
It made me feel so much better and am in a much more cheerful mood – haven’t been too bad, but you know honey how those damn week-ends are – it seems Saturday nites are our nites.
Guess I was a little blue and a little more lonely than usual Saturday so was lousy company for anyone – but honestly dear am back to my chipper self.
Just that so many times I wish you could just touch me or hold me in your arms – I’ll always love you dear!
Work is about the same – not much to do at all so far.
My spoiled patient has had his light on several times, but now is sleeping like a baby.
Work makes the time go so much faster.
Had a rather confusing sleep to-day. Got to sleep about 8:30 then awake several times when the kids were moving about, then Ernie woke me at 3 pm to phone you.
Then had a short cry honey (just so pleased to hear you – wanting to be w/ you) then fell back to sleep until 5 o’clock.
Joan hollering at me to go and play tennis – so off we went.
Wow was it ever cool out – sure a pair of athletes.
Had some Chinese food on the way home, then watched T.V.
Both of us fell asleep until 10:30 pm when Mary Jo phoned to tell me she would come and pick me up at 11 pm.
Hardly a lazy wife, eh dear!
The three of us laughed all the way here – had to tell me of their escapades over the week-end – what a crazy crew.
Am going over to their apartment one of these evenings for a gab session.
Actually the rest of the hospital, all except our floor, has gone rather wild the past 2 nites – a bad car accident victim transferred here from Martinez – 19 year old boy and 2 major emergency surgeries which really turned this place upside down.
Don’t know what I’ll do when I have to get back to real work.
Must invest in some stamps and get these mailed to-day –
Please honey take care of yourself and get your appetite back.
I worry about my love.
It won’t be long and we’ll be together planning our big day –
Please remember that I love you with all my heart!
Hello to everyone for me please and anxious to see & visit w/ everyone.
How’s the ‘blue bug’ – I miss her?he?
Yours always,
Bette xxxxxxx
Chopp-Chopp
(maybe we should call our first baby – chopp chopp, eh?)
By the way, will the Park Terrace let us have a family?
M
om’s mind is whirling in the absence of her love – nursing night shifts, tennis games and fun filled gab sessions can’t come close to ‘their’ night … Saturday night!
A family – how amazing! But seriously – calling me ‘chopp-chopp’?!

Park Terrace? That’s funny. (and on Portage Ave in Winnipeg I believe). HA!
I love Chopp, Chopp. I married her.
Yes, and renting out apartments to this day!
And yes you did!
Tj ❤️
