Love Letter 9 – April

Love Letter 9 – April

The temperamental weather of the changing season loosely mimics my mood of late – unfiltered gusts of wind riddled with droplets of scattered showers broken only by a periodic sunbreak piercing through a hole in the clouds. I happily jump back into the welcoming pages of Mom’s Sep, 1960 Love Letter 9:

Oh sweetheart I don’t know – it’s hard to be apart, I miss you so, but time will pass and soon before we realize we’ll have a few pennies and April will be here.
Tell me of anything you thought of dear.
Mom also said that my Christmas list could exclude all of my relatives except the kids – they realize I’m attempting to save money – so it will be a birthday present for Mom (next month), birthday present for Don (Nov) and then Christmas.
My list will be rather small, but an important one – you my dear, Mom, Don, Gran & kids.
Then I’ll start figuring out my return fare. Oh boy, doesn’t that sound great – one way ticket to Winnipeg.
Nothing definite dear – maybe night shift won’t agree with me after awhile, who knows.
Gee tho’ – my days off are great – have next (a week Fri) Fri and Saturday off so that’s just like having Fri, Sat & Sunday off.
Tomorrow am going over to Pat & Frank’s to spend one of two days.
They sure are a great couple – we talk and laugh about so much in common.
Never-thee- worry – we’ll bring up your name no doubt.
Gosh I love you dear!
Life and time is so funny – it just seems like years ago when we were together and it has been exactly 17 days.
So many wonderful memories Bryan: every time I glance thru’ those match covers I recall another glorious time we had.
Does your Mom fall asleep while she’s watching T.V. or is that just me honey?
Remember the nite I fell asleep and when I awoke I sent you home – mad were you?
I need you near me all the time my dear – how lucky can I be to have you! – only 7 1/2 more months before April 30th – Zowie what a night.
Everyone is fine at #102 – Joan and Ernie always say “hello” and miss you.
Ernie looks very good, she lost some weight and purchased some new fall clothes.
Really getting cool here the last few days – need a sweater or coat all the time.
Hear via the Oakland Tribune about the Winnipeg Blue Bombers – won 6 games? – seen any yet, dear?
Well honey guess I’ll close now –
Will you be at home around 6 o’clock Sunday or what – if you’ll be out for dinner let me know dear – otherwise I won’t call direct – just want to talk to you honey – but remember if you have any plans by all means go out.
I love you, Bryan dear –
Hello to all.
Yours always
Bette xxxxx
chopp-chopp

Oh my, Mom, if the past 17 days ‘seems like years’ . . . what pray tell will the next 7 1/2 months leading up to April 30th feel like – a lifetime no doubt!?
