Love Letter 63 – Wedding Band
Seagulls are seasonally soaring across the vast morning sky searching for forgotten food bits as human tummies are surely stuffed after hours of spirited silliness and family feasting. I easily forego my daily jog electing to unwind with relaxing vibes, steeped loose leaf creamed earl grey and the final handwritten pages of Mom’s Jan, 1961 Love Letter 63:

My 2 hour absence was spent w/ cousin Bud – met him for a beer.
You should have seen the Royal — packed & I never felt like drinking to-nite.
Everyone asking about crystal, dear – they may start me (us) on some – wish you could see it — very plain w/ just a few strokes here & there (not sure yet – but many people asked).
Honey tell me if you want anything specific for our home — everyone asks what we want.
We need everything.
Got the gifts for the bridesmaids to-day — and your gift.
(Will pick you out a nice birthday gift – something you want).
Also got your wedding band — was going to get chopp – chopp engraved on it, but thought they might figure something was wrong w/ me.
’Nite now, dear
Wish you were here — I Love You
Yours always,
Bette

Hear anything re: our bedroom suite?
How come now lover — no chopp chopp or kisses —
(I’m starving for your love)
— Zowie how’s that for a prize line —
I need you so!
Love, Love, Love,
Bette
Johnston
(Just practicing dear)
Mr. & Mrs. B.K. Johnston
(any more cards!??)
I’m thinking you could engrave pretty much any sentiment inside Dad’s golden wedding band Mom – he’ll love and cherish any ‘prize line’ you choose no matter what!!
