Love Letter 63 – Making-Time
Love Letter 63 – Making-Time
Time is ticking by like nobody’s business as family and friends frantically gather, last minute lists are attentively scribbled and little one’s faces are filling with anticipating smiles. I slow my roll this solstice evening with a taste of holiday chai, the vibe of Janet Jackson and the endearing handwritten words of Mom’s January, 1961 Love Letter 63:
Tues nite 10 pm
Flin Flon
Hi Honey!
So pleased to hear from you to-day, dear – and here goes for a quick reply.
Will start now & probably finish in a few hours.
Hello again dear – soon will be midnite (the bewitching hour) – am sure I don’t know for what when one is alone.
So glad to hear that you were working on our thesis – please get it done real soon, honey.
I love you so very much – and as you say – so often find me thinking about our apartment.
About the crinolines I’ll write if I need them for sure – thank your Mom so much for finding out the rates.
Pleased to hear about getting our couch and stool — still look as good as before – hardly cost us money.
Yes dear – will send out our engagement notice in a couple days to the Tribune and Free Press. Thanx for your added note re: the working of the notice – as wondering about it.
On our invitations we have Mrs. Hazel Nisbet requests the honour . . . As my father has been gone so long very few know him by his name – but all is correct now (re: spelling).
Last nite worked for about 3 hours on addressing invitations.
Honey please send your list if you’d like me to address your invitations – wish you could be here w/ me, but as I always say – we’d never get anything done — but making-time.
Talked w/ Mrs Christiansen to-day re: flowers – so far w/ my bouquet (red roses) 2 bridesmaids, flower girl, church flowers — approx $35.00 — haven’t added Mothers’ corsages, boutonnières (dear would you like all white boutonnières or do you think it would be too gaudy to have the best man & usher wear red carnations) are all the men wearing white coats?
Going over to Denice’s for coffee tomorrow (day off) so will catch up on some news.
They sure are pleased to help.
Belated Happy Birthday greetings to John —
Have been kept real busy at work & haven’t had much time to get home for lunch the past couple of days – so much I’d like to get done.
Want to get a fair amount done before the next 2 weeks –
So far have heard of 3 showers so want to be free to attend them – will write you about all, dear –
Only wish you were w/ me to help open gifts — oh I love you so.
Hardly excited at all.
Haven’t tried “our” kit yet, dear.
Please say hello to all, lover!
Please ask your Mom what type & colour corsage she would prefer just so I can give our florist an idea — I’ll write Mom J at the end of this week for sure.
Wow Mom, in a twinkling you and Dad will be sharing each and every bewitching hour in your very own apartment, surrounded by your new furniture and participating in all sorts of activities . . . namely making time!
Ooh, I’m gonna take you there
That’s the way love goes
