Love Letter 62 – Marriage License

Love Letter 62 – Marriage License

‘Tis the season to be jolly, grateful and full of wonderment . . .
I’ll take a big scoop of all of the above please and thank you – beginning with luminescent fairy lighting, friendly family frolicking, cozy Christmas coffee shop ambience and a winter evening in 1961 with Mom’s Love Letter 62:

7 p.m. Flin Flon
Jan 8/61

Hi My Darling!
Well here it is another week-end nearly over, thank goodness.
Actually the time did pass by real quickly for a change.
Real busy at work yesterday – it seemed everyone had an ailment of one kind or another.
Don’t be worried about the telegram – did get a full blast anyway, but wondered why the telegram didn’t get there until 3 o’clock. Did you venture back to bed after you got home?
Always seem to meet someone on that bus.
That’s too bad about our marriage license as we did have enough time to get it while in the Peg – trust us – but will inquire tomorrow, dear.
Will send you all the info –
Sure glad we didn’t have any pics taken New Year’s Eve – Wowee – still can’t remember 2 hours of that morning – Real wonderful way to greet in ‘61, honey.
Mom & I went to the show last nite & really great “Dark at the Top of the Stairs.”
If you ever have a chance see it, dear.
Am sure you’d really enjoy it – we sure did.
Real true revelation of people’s character.
Then came home and listened to the local hockey game – then to bed again without you my love.
Up for church (communion) as Bishop Norris was in for his annual visit to our parish – very lovely sermon.
Then had breakfast at Ethel’s instead of our place – to the hockey game (won 7-3) – then home for supper.
But as usual had company for supper (Auntie Bertha & Uncle Frank) always someone here for a meal.
Last nite 5 of the Gummerson clan plus Jimmy.
Hope our wee home will be as congenial and crazy.
It’s so hard to believe that in only 40 more days we’ll be married!
I miss you so, my dear.
I love you so very much!
Actually dear must see Rev. Sargent re: the ceremony and procedures so could inquire if I could send you the paper to sign re: reading the (our) bans of marriage then no worries re: the license – will see.
Well honey it must seem like a real confusing letter – there are so many things that enter my mind.
No word on the invitations, but should hear from them next week – never be worried.
Oh honey sure wish you were here to enjoy some of the fun.

Priorities while in the Peg – I get that Mom. And, I’m sure Reverend Sargent will figure it out for you and Dad – whether a valid marriage certificate or bans of marriage . . . fingers crossed!
