Love Letter 49 – Jeez

March birthdays with family and friends fill the budding days with expected and unexpected surprises – my cup truly runneth over! I gaze through the living room window onto the row of flowering shrubs when I’m momentarily captivated at the thought of my two wondrous worlds magically colliding like the softly blowing colour curtains of auroras in an evening’s celestial sky.
I steep a pot of tangy, fruit forward hibiscus, turn up the volume of Jarvis Church and nuzzle into the fluffed up sofa cushion in preparation of unveiling the captivating contents of Mom’s December 2, 1960 Love Letter 49:

Fri. nite
10:30 pm

Hi Honey!
How are you dear, lonely too!
Jeez, am I in a lousy mood – guess because it’s the week-end again – I love you so very much, dear!
So please take little heed at my bitching for the first page and only remember I love you so!
Maybe it’s because I’ve really been on “the go” for the past 4 days.
Haven’t even had time to get home for lunch, just met Mom & Ethel at my break (hour) and ran around to the stores trying to find appropriate Christmas gifts, bridesmaid’s dresses, etc, etc – then for the past 3 nites have just gulped down supper and caught a bus an hour after I get home to come down & baby sit or visit people.
Carole Wright couldn’t get a sitter last nite so said I’d go down and sit for awhile as I mentioned in my previous letter – then to-nite had full intentions of just staying home – but Curly phoned to say he had a meeting to attend & could I sit for him – so here I am w/ the darlings.
They are so cute and Kathy & Susan have had there 10 min. visits w/ me, hugged, kissed & told me a few stories then back to bed – guess that helped me, dear.
Bitchy, eh.
Then tomorrow at noon have to look over invitation samples.
Listen dear, the local paper has the same samples as Coutts – card shop (Portage Ave).
The Bouquet – Bridal invitations, announcements, etc – do you want a certain invitation?! – if so please go into Coutts and give me the page no.
The Bouquet Book I have has got a lite blue (whitish) cover – hope they are the same – or do you want me to get just plain invitations – nothing fancy, pages to look at page 6, 9 & 10, P. 59 & 65.
Also could you please send me an approx. amount you’ll need.
If you already have, never mind the last few lines I wrote.
Have been writing letters & Christmas cards for the past 3 hours – gee I wish I would write more often during the year instead of waiting until now.
Will be ordering the invitations in a week so will have them by Christmas – I’ll have to address them as soon as I get back from Wpg.
Look at the napkins (cocktail size? or other ones) too.

Heed your bitching?! Huh, if only I had similar restraints Mom . . . I’m working on it. But I get it, another weekend without your lover – Jeez!
Thank goodness for the little darling’s hugs n’ smooches getting you through another lonely evening.
