Love Letter 13 – Green Hornet

Love Letter 13 – Green Hornet

My body instinctively begins grooving to Stevie Wonder’s “Love Light in Flight” as the tune spreads infectious love and joy throughout the brightly lit garden suite. My mood lifts higher as I embrace and devour the continuing content of Mom’s Love Letter 13:

Here I am again to finish your letter while waiting for supper.
7 pm
Ernie has cooked a hot supper to-nite – oh these eating habits while on nites are truly ridiculous.
Half the time no one feels like eating so I manage to cook a full meal when I arise, but need something to eat as haven’t a thing to munch on all nite – except drink coffee and tea – actually not hard done by at all dear, just have to complain a bit tho-
See you had our car winterized so she’ll be already for me when I arrive on the scene – gosh I nearly forget how to drive – haven’t been behind a steering wheel for many days.
Notice you brought to my attention w/ big black letters “Green Hornet” – I’ll try and remember next time, honey.
Glad to hear you have found a parking spot for our car.
Hope that all is satisfactory when the final house selling programme is over – sure is a big responsibility for your Mom.
Am anxious to see your home tho’ – and sweetheart can you believe it that after 6 more night shifts it will complete this month and leave only 2 1/2 months.
Must be real pretty at home now w/ autumn appearing – sure no change here at all, but the skies are blue more often now – just a little fog on the way home in the A.M.
By the way honey don’t worry about my getting to work at nite – even if Bobby and Mary Jo are finished w/ nites next month there are 2 other nurses who will drive me to work all the time.
The kids are really good to me at work.
It seems so funny that this hospital is really so individual – what I mean is that one shift has absolutely nothing to do with the other – and even tho’ I’ve worked w/ everyone on days and got to know them so well they’re ready to correct you openly if you make one wee mistake – mind you there’s so little to do at nite surely to goodness one couldn’t forget anything.
Maybe I better quit talking about work being so slack as one of these nites everything might go wild – who knows.
Enough work talk.
Have changed my patients every week so get to know a few new ones, mind you, you seldom get to know them – only if they wake up.
Will be pleased to get back on day shift and see light again.
But actually time is going more quickly now –
Oh Bryan soon December will come – great fun – to be with you again and have you near me – miss you as always dear but keep our wedding date in mind to console me.
I love you so very much, dear!
It seems so funny that as I read thru’ your letter honey – we talk so much the same – and every now and then our letters are exact – but then we have so much in common – each other.

Ah, the rush of riding around in a winterized Green Hornet with your love – I picture Mom’s longing for Dad intensify as she imagines front seat adventures of endless banter and laughter, exchanging loving glances and sneaking occasional kisses at welcomed stop lights.

“Make me feel like paradise,
fill me with your kisses”
