Love Letter 54 – Jokes Included

Love Letter 54 – Jokes Included

The calendar is jam-packed with celebrations galore – big ones, little ones – backyard barbecues, honey wine vineyards, salsa shorelines, bopping boardwalks, picturesque patios, cutesy clubhouses!
But for today I’m whisked up in the bopping blues of Colin James and the wonderfully written account of December 15, 1960 in Mom’s lasting Love Letter 54:

Here it is 11:30 p.m. –
Went to the nurses’ residence & spent a couple hours there – had a few drinks – rather dead – Quite a few females — it’s just not the same going anywhere alone to a gathering like that so left shortly after 10 – visited Don at work and ended up going in to see the show — “Conspiracy of Hearts” — real sad! All about nuns, children & the Nazi torturing prisoners – sat and cried through most of it – better you weren’t there w/ me while tears rolled down my eyes. Too, too sad when they treated the little children so cruelly (spelling atrocious).
Now here I sit w/ pen in hand and the radio actually playing some 1/2 decent music for a change.
Am going to get some parcels wrapped tomorrow nite for sure.
Not going to baby sit this week-end for sure.
We got more snow to-day — just hope it’s fine for your travelling — pleased to hear you possibly will start Friday afternoon — then will drive in some daylight.
Oh honey please be careful driving alone from The Pas to Flin Flon (100 miles) – alone and even tho’ the roads might seem in fairly good condition some of those damn curves are weird.
— can only wait until you’re w/ me – I worry about you on the highway.
You might be getting some cards from relatives — jokes included — only warning you to prepare you –
I never know quite what they’ll say, but have fairly good ideas.
Well dear will close now – read for a short while then dream about you!
Goodnite honey!
I love you so very much.
Hello from all.
Love Always Bette xxxx
P.S. –
Honey – when you come up will you please bring that one cardboard box that is in the attic — look in it & it will  have 2 pleated skirts for sure – grey wool dress – you’ll be able to tell as soon as you open it — nothing in there that I need there.
Thanx dear.
’Nite again.
Love You!
Yours always,
Bette

Chopp – Chopp!!

Isn’t that the truth Mom! Who’s to know what the family will say on any given occasion — but we surely welcome every last word … jokes included!

I love you because
Honey you’re so real
