Love Letter 51 – Powder Puff
Living on the bright side of this Earth day, and everyday really, serves me well as I mindfully tread sodden sidewalk surfaces while yielding to fallen limbs and outreaching roots before happily stumbling upon a worldly café and bar. I instinctively gravitate to the veined quartz countertop display of in-house pastries, eyeing the tempting sea-salt chocolate chip cookie and innocently ignoring the ‘please wait to be seated’ sign . . . oops?!
Once comfortably seated in the corner of the high-top community table with my half sweet London fog latte and chocolate chip cookie, I linger for a moment in Andrea Bocelli’s Por Una Cabeza then quickly unwind into the wonderful world of 1960 with the handwritten prose of Mom’s Love Letter 51:

Hi My Honey!
Another letter to-day – how wonderful – still sorry indeed that you received such a miserable one a couple back – but so often I wish you were with me so we coud talk, etc, etc . . . . . . . .
So now you’ve decided you’re getting an organizer, too – man all in one package – and surprises too.
Have done some planning re: my dress, but now the bridesmaids – no choice here and may have to get them made also – will see.
By the way dear tell your Mom that Mom Nisbet is wearing pink.
Will talk about plans when you’re here dear – am nearly up to date – just waiting to hear re: invitations & announcements & will proceed with that – will order them at the beginning of next week for sure.
Can actually talk about everything when you’re here dear.
We can talk about what you’re wearing, too.
Gee they’re really keeping you busy – hope you won’t be too fatigued when you’re w/ me, but knowing you, you will keep a good pace as usual.
I know how that thesis must be getting you down & I too wish it were finished – it won’t be much longer now.
Sure hope your Mom doesn’t mind us dropping over to her home when I frequently burn something in our kitchen – great fun!
So you want to know what you’re going to get – wait ‘till after we’re married (how’s that) – from your lover.
About something for Mom & Gran – they both truly appreciate cologne – Mom really loves cologne (anything, but violet – not too strong smelling).
Gran really likes Yardley Lotus cologne (for sure) – or powder w/ a fluffy powder puff – something they can always use.
Guess you’re really getting some blizzardy weather – hope it’s all over by the 23rd.

Ah, the scent of a woman – sweet, irresistible, lingering – with a seductive spritz or a desirable powder puff dusting. I’m guessing Dad fancies your fragrance Mom – particularly when you’re together talking, etc, etc . . .
