Love Letter 5 – Winnipeg
Love Letter 5 – Winnipeg
Prince’s I Wanna be Your Lover and Raspberry Beret energize the garden suite as I dance through cleaning day like a jacked up Cinderella . . . hours later, Call my Name sets the evening’s enchanting stage as I fall back into September, 1960 with the continuing pages of Mom’s Love Letter 5:

How is everything in Winnipeg – the weather is probably very nice as Sept usually is – seen any football games, shows yet?
Am sure you’ll have plenty to do w/ your new job coming up soon and your family near you.
Do say hello to them all for me please. It’s now 2 pm and man have I been lazy – slept until noon then did a few cleaning tasks and now a letter.
Got a letter from mom several days ago and all seems to be fairly well.
Don had driven down to Winnipeg in his old auto – no trouble thank goodness – he was going to phone you – but of course you wouldn’t have been there yet – he drove to Stonewall to visit w/ my Gran Nisbet – who at the time was in hospital, but fine now – sure is a considerate guy that brother of mine.
Mom sends you love and kisses in every letter so next time we’re together I’ll see if I can fulfill the requirements.
Joan and Ernie should come roaring in about 3:30 and really turn this place upside down.
They are leaving for L.A. at 5 pm and haven’t started packing or anything yet.
Had a long chat w/ Ernie yesterday and her tentative plans were to stay here until next April if her family will leave her alone (she’d mentioned a trip to Hawaii before returning to Canada (April) then fly up for the wedding then work at her home) – nothing definite yet as her family (sister) sure bugs her.
Joan’s a little undecided as usual – very anxious to go home at Christmas either to stay or at least to visit – her mother evidently is very lonesome – especially since it is her first time away from home, but that darn character never writes home (about 6 letters since we’ve been here).
Her and Mary Kaye out fairly frequently lately.
Nothing else too new.
It sure is noisy around here now – don’t know who lives next door, but their stereo is on real loud constantly and someone is always laughing and screaming – right now Prima is crying out –
I love you dear!!
Sorry to hear you slept in a good bed alone –
Yours always –
Love Bette

P.S. can’t even tear these pages from the pad without you

Maybe distance does make the heart grow fonder Mom – at least the distance from your bohemian east shores of San Francisco Bay (Berkeley) to Dad’s cosmopolitan city at the junction of two muddy rivers (Winnipeg) . . . 3,017.3 km distance to be exact!
I just can’t stop writing songs about you,
I love you so much

I love their love. So special❤️
I concur Robbie! ❤️
