Love Letter 27 – Bobby
Love Letter 27 – Bobby
This morning’s golden stained sky along with the dancing, dewy blades of grass suggest the promise of an early spring. Even the cherry blossoms lining West 15th Ave feel the sparks of a seasonal change. Time flies.
I slip into comfy clothes, steep some loose leaf peppermint tea and with the sultry tones of Bobbie Gentry filling the garden suite’s interior I easily bounce back into Berkeley, 1960 with Mom’s Love Letter 27:

You should see Bobby to-nite – she’s running around the hospital telling everyone she’s getting married – Mike proposed to-nite and is she happy –
“Will you marry, me, dear?”
How about an exciting World Series, but then you said you were working?!
I keep forgetting my husband-to-be is a hard working man, but soon he’ll have a wife and family to support – gosh that sounds like we’re real old doesn’t it?
Joan and Ernie doing fairly well.
We did manage to have a few moody days last week – they are still planning to spend a couple of days in Vancouver.
As I said before dear will get the ticket arranged tomorrow or as soon as it arrives and see you in a week.
I hope I can wait long enough for them to put the stairs up to the plane – probably see me parachute.
Sure seems funny not to have the T.V. set sitting around – am sure it will arrive in tip top shape.
Anything you want before I leave here – must drop by and get those (4) wine glasses to match our other ones.
Well Bryan, will close now as I have some desk work to do – am real tired right now (5:30A.M.) for some unknown reason.
Love you as always.
Not much longer now.
I love you!
Yours always,
Bette

Chopp – Chopp!!
Two nurses, two engagements – the halls of Alta Bates will never be the same!
Bette and Bobby – blushing brides-to-be . . . love is in beautiful bloom.
The look of love
Is saying so much more than just words can ever say
