Dizzying kaleidoscopic polka dots spin above my head as I steady myself in mountain pose on the jute welcome mat and begin unzipping my dripping knee high boots and unbuttoning my black hooded trench.
I politely request a DMB selection from Siri as I step into the wash of warmth trying to escape through the front door of suite 1969. I disappear into the main bedroom and momentarily reappear with my hand embroidered Thai bag slung over my right shoulder. I empty the bag’s contents onto the circular wood grained table top like a child unloading her school backpack onto her graffitied desk top: two journals, a handful of blue gel pens, a couple of white bordered black and white pics of Mom + Dad, a host of handwritten affirmations and quotes and Mom’s indelible Love Letter. I lose myself once more into the Flin Flon evening of November, 1960 within the continuing pages of Mom’s Love Letter 31:

Talked over w/ Ethel & Carole re: dresses, etc and everything beginning to shape up.
Many arrangements to decide upon re: hall, etc.
Sure could tell when I neared the north country – everyone started their cowboy selections on any jukebox we came in contact w/.
How goes the insurance, apartments for rent & your thesis – please work on that dear.
Gran isn’t too good at all – real skinny & complains fairly constantly re: her many ailments – But still a good soul w/ her many aches & pains.
Said hello to everyone for you too honey.
So anxious to see you – hope that all might be arranged for a trip up to the northland around Christmas – sounds so fabulous! Have a chance to meet a few people.

Oh I love you, darling – so frequently I look at my ring & think of you giving it to me – engaged 3 days now – Zowie!!
